Mermaids are a strictly aquatic race, appearing as beautiful women from the waist up, and below as a fish. They are fine swimmers. They seldom concern themselves with the affairs of the surface world. Sailors consider the sight of a mermaid a good omen, though some men have been lost at sea, swimming after these beautiful water nymphs.
When provoked mermaids attack with the slap of their powerful tail. If they can, they will attempt to drown an enemy. They can be summoned by water magic to serve, but only for causes they deem worthy.
